Only one on-air personality made sense to me during the aftermath of Katrina. She asked her audience just how many 'roaming gangs' did we actually see on TV? She also reminded us that history has shown us over and over that disaster victims trying to get rescued often fire their guns in the air in attempts to get noticed amidst all the rubble and debris. If they have any guns of course. So why did all the 'worldly and intelligent' media attribute all the gunfire they heard as murderous intentions?
And why should we care now that's it's over? We should care because city after city refused to accept evaccuees saying they didn't want any "rapists or looters" in their towns. We do care. We want to know that the world isn't as evil, or black and white, as the media would like to keep reporting it.
