The Video Queen's NEWS > THREE EXAMPLES of NONPROFIT VIDEOS on YOUTUBE.COM

Marketing of NonProfits Aren't Just Direct Mail Anymore!

Today I received or stumbled across my first flurry of video messages from nonprofit organizations. I've received a video here and there in the past, but to get THREE in the same day from three different organizations is a record for me. So I wanted to share with you my thoughts about them.

THOUGHTS in order of occurrence:
1. Fantastic! Way to go!
2. All videos are from or for nonprofits. Very interesting!
3. One didn't require actors or even video footage to make it.
4. One is so simple and raw, yet distributed by a huge nonprofit entity, I just had to gawk and smile that this nonprofit "gets it."
5. Wait a minute! One video is from an individual that asks us to support a nonprofit! It's not even from the nonprofit itself! But who cares?!
6. Oh wow! They are ALL using their video descriptions as their "call to action"!
7. I've got to blog about these examples of marketing nonprofits.

Example #1

Here a national nonprofit puts message and education before video quality. Thank goodness more and more people are figuring this out! It's the message that rules on viral video sharing service like Youtube.com. Notice how this group includes a short message and url link in their description to be shown when the video is shared by email! Bonus points for savvy!

Example#2

Also includes a short message and url in their video description so as to appear when shared by email. This video is also made by a huge national nonprofit. The difference? They've taken their expensive TV ad and placed it on Youtube.com AS WELL AS air it on TV. Savvy! They also use this video in their website to solicit donations to help air the TV ad more times! Triple bonus!

Example#3

This is also for a nonprofit. Not from, for. If you think of our government as a nonprofit anyway. Without researching we see that this video was posted by an individual. This person could work for even be paid by the US government. Or this person could just be a good samaritan, so to speak. This video wasn't made with video, it was made from photos off the web. And it wasn't edited on expensive software or even a fast computer. Anyone could make a video like this for any purpose, and for any message. This person also uses what marketers refer to as a "call to action" for their video description. HE asks us to call our congress people and gives us the number to do so.

I wonder what type of video you will make that informs, entertains, and educates others?
